How does it work?
Set yourself a target of cycling 300 miles, which is the distance from London to Paris, in May. You can do this on an indoor cycling trainer such as Zwift or Peloton, rack up the miles on your bike outside or undertake a mixture of both.
How do I log my miles?
You’ll need to sign up for a free Strava account if you haven’t already and use this each time you do a ride. Strava can now be integrated into your JustGiving page so the distance you ride will show on your page and pull through to the leaderboard automatically.
Can I use other fitness apps?
Yes, you can connect your Strava account to other devices such as Garmin or FitBit watches or other platforms such as MapMyFitness. If you don’t have any of these apps, you can still take part just try to log your miles in a way that works for you.
Can I take part in a team?
Yes, once you sign up you can create or join a team fundraising page. You need a team name and team fundraising target to get started. When others sign up they can choose to join and type in the same team name, this will make sure all you are all part of the same team and your pages are together.
Is there a registration fee?
No, there’s no fee to take part however you can help us cover our costs and kick start your fundraising by adding your first donation to your fundraising page. Simply register by clicking ‘Sign up’ to set up your JustGiving page.
How do I raise money?
Once you sign up, your fundraising page will be created, and any donations collected on your page automatically will be transferred to Blood Cancer UK. The best way to raise money is to share your page with friends and family so they can donate to your challenge. We’ll be sending you some of our other top tips when you sign up so that we can raise more to beat blood cancer.
You can still collect money offline and add this to your page but please adhere to social distancing guidelines at all times.
Do I need to raise a minimum amount?
No, there is no minimum required fundraising target for this event. We just ask you pledge to raise as much as you can for Blood Cancer UK. To help you raise as much as possible, we’ll support you by sending you a My London to Paris medal if you raise £100 and a Blood Cancer UK cycling jersey once you hit £300.
How do I pay in offline sponsorship (e.g. cheques, cash)?
You can pay this in by contacting our Supporter Relations team by emailing events@bloodcancer.org.uk or by calling 0808 169 5155
I’ve raised £300, can I have my jersey now?
Once you hit £300 we will automatically send you a cycling jersey, however due to COVID-19 we are operating with a reduced service so this may take up to two weeks to process and post to you. If you can’t wait, visit our online shop and check out our range of clothing.
I can’t take part in the ride in May but want to get involved can I still sign up?
Yes absolutely. Most people will be taking part in May but if you can’t do it then we’d still love for you to take part at a time that’s right for you.
I want to challenge myself and do the distance in a week, do I need to take the whole month to do the ride?
No, not at all. You can ride the distance at your own pace.
Do I need to do anything different when cycling outdoors due to COVID-19?
We ask that you follow the government guidelines on social distancing, particularly if you are in a high risk group. We strongly advise you take a face mask and anti-bacterial gel/wipes should you experience mechanical difficulties and need to get public transport.
I have other questions, who can I contact?
You can email events@bloodcancer.org.uk with any questions and we’d be happy to help.
